2nd Gen Maruti Celerio Exterior Design Leaked – Sept Launch
New 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Hatchback Exterior Design Revealed – September Launch
We have been talking about the new Celerio for a long time and now a fresh set of patent images reveals the final shape of the production spec new generation Celerio. The new 2nd Generation Celerio is going to be the next big launch by Maruti Suzuki in the coming months.
The patent images reveals how much bigger the new Celerio is and how the design language mixes with that of the Swift and Baleno. It is less boxy and more curved than the current Celerio plus looks bigger along with a touch more premium. The front grille resembles the Swift while the headlamp design is also much sportier over the current model. The rear styling gets new bigger tail-lamps like the Baleno.Overall the new 2021 Celerio looks simple yet clean and will certainly won’t offend anybody like the new S-PRESSO with its polarizing design.
The new Celerio like the Baleno, Swift and Wagon R is based on the new Maruti lightweight Heartect platform. The 2nd generation Celerio will have a longer wheelbase for a roomier cabin while the boot space is going to be more or less the same. Like all the modern hatchbacks, the new Celerio will have more safety features and improved ride and handling for a safer and comfortable driving experience. We expect the base variant to get 13 / 14 inch wheels while the top variant will get 14 inch alloy wheels.
The new Celerio will also get more premium cabin as compared to the current Celerio with improved material quality and host of connectivity features including a 7 inch touch screen along with the latest SmartPlay Studio infotainment system.
In terms of engine option, the new Celerio will get a 1.0 petrol engine developing around 68 horsepower and 90 Nm for the base and mid variant while the top variant may get a 1.2l petrol engine producing 84 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. There would be an AMT gearbox offered with both engine option while a 5 speed manual would be standard.
We hope to see the new Celerio later this year around the festive season as thanks to Covid the launch has been delayed multiple times. The Celerio would be slotted along with the Wagon R and would be positioned above the Alto and S-Presso with prices expected to be between Rs. 4.8 lakh to Rs. 6.6 lakh (ex-showroom) to rival Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid.
